Terms & data policy

How we look after your information.

Plain-language terms for using this website and applying to join JurisDev KE.

Last updated: 1 October 2026

In short: details you submit go only to the JurisDev KE membership system, are used to run the community, and are never sold or used for commercial purposes.

1. Who we are

JurisDev KE ("JurisDev", "we", "us") is a community for law, technology and justice innovation in Kenya. These terms explain how we handle the information you give us through this website, including membership applications.

2. What we collect

When you apply to join, we collect your full name, email address, phone number, title or job description, a short bio and a description of how you would like to contribute.

We also record the date and time you accepted these terms and basic technical information (your IP address and browser type) to protect the form from abuse.

3. How we use your information

Your details are submitted directly to the JurisDev KE membership system, which is accessible only to authorised members of the coordinating team.

We use them to review your application, contact you about your membership, and coordinate community activities such as events, thematic teams and publications you have chosen to take part in.

We do not sell, rent or share your details with third parties, and we do not use them for commercial or advertising purposes.

4. Public profiles

Applying does not publish anything about you. Member names, bios, photos or links only appear on this website where you have separately given consent, and you can ask us to update or remove them at any time.

5. Storage and security

Applications are stored in our secured content management system. Access is restricted to authorised administrators and every action they take in the system is logged.

We keep application details for as long as you are a member or your application is under consideration. If an application is not approved, we delete it once it is no longer needed.

6. Your rights

In line with Kenya's Data Protection Act, 2019, you can ask to access, correct or delete the personal data we hold about you, or object to how it is used. Contact us using the details below and we will respond within a reasonable time.

7. Community conduct

Members are expected to engage respectfully and in good faith, respect the confidentiality of fellow members, and avoid sharing others' personal information without consent.

Content shared by JurisDev KE is for general information, learning and discussion. It is not legal advice.

8. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms as the community grows. The date at the top of this page shows when they last changed. Significant changes will be communicated to members.
